Controlling the Narrative with Mina Sharif, author, activist, women's rights advocate, educator and mentor
In this episode I’m joined by Mina Sharif. She is a stalwart of the Afghan diaspora, and works tirelessly to raise awareness of the situation in Afghanistan. She grew up in Canada, and spent more than half her life in Afghanistan, after finishing her education. She worked in a variety of fields, including in media organisations, and with impoverished and orphaned children.
We discuss the way Afghan people have been portrayed since the fall of Afghanistan to Taliban control in 2021, and who controls the narrative. It’s a complex topic that isn’t often addressed, but should be as it impacts directly how the rest of the world interacts, or not, with the Taliban and with exiled Afghans.
