At-risk Afghans deported from Pakistan face Taliban detention, torture and death
April 10, 2025 — Pakistan’s sweeping refugee deportation campaign is ensnaring Afghans who risk being imprisoned, tortured, even killed, if forced to return to Taliban-controlled Afghanistan. Human rights groups warn that those targeted for expulsion include rights advocates, journalists, former security and military personnel, ethnic and religious minorities, and women — all in immediate danger of retribution under Taliban rule.
